Overall: D+
While this Kubrick/Spielberg collaboration poses some thought-provoking questions, the disturbing violence and bleak portrayal of humankind puts this movie well outside the realm of family viewing.

Violence: D
Discussion of cities being flooded, starving people, world wide destruction, girl is stabbed in arm with needle, human face of robot opens up to reveal mechanics underneath, dead child is shown in cryogenic coffin, heated argument between husband and wife, robot child asks about death, child tortures a toy, robot's face distorts, child with scissors frightens parent, boy stabs robot child with a cake server, child falls into swimming pool and nearly drowns, robot child shown lying on bottom of pool, mother abandons robot child, dead body found in hotel room with blood, robot man cuts identification tag out of chest (not seen), grossly mutilated robots shown scavenging in garbage, robots captured and taken to holding pens, robot shot from cannon through propeller--flying body parts shown, hot oil or acid poured over robot causing it to melt and dissolve, other robots taken to be destroyed, boy robot chained to stage with adult robot and threatened with destruction, crowd mob scene, police arrest innocent man, out of control helicopter bangs into buildings, child robot demolishes other robot with heavy object, unsettling scene of robot factory shows child-robots hanging from hooks, robot child jumps off building in suicide attempt, eerie scenes of flooded city and amusement park, Ferris wheel falls and traps submarine, frozen robot child is found and reactivated, statue shatters, adult figure is brought to life and then dies.

Man tells woman robot to undress which she starts to do, but stops before any skin is shown, reference made to robots used as sex toys and includes brief discussion of sensuality stimulators, statement made about imposed pregnancy limits, mural depicts a man's naked back and rear, woman seen sitting on toilet, bare legs only shown, woman shown in spaghetti strap gown, boy threatens to look in robot child's swimsuit, extended bedroom scene depicting a discussion between robot and human about sexual relations, they kiss and lie on bed but no skin shown, naked back and shoulders of dead woman shown, man makes reference to his sexual knowledge of women, gigolo robot character makes sexual sounds during conversation, holograph of scantily dressed woman used to excite young men, building entrances in city are designed to look like women, reference made to escort service, scenes of mother showing appropriate affection to child.

Mild uses of bathroom language, at least 5 terms of Deity used as exclamations, moderate references to body parts.
